Commissions
I have composed approximately 30 commissioned compositions for community choral ensembles, schools, universities, and churches throughout the United States. I welcome the opportunity to compose future commissioned works. Whenever possible, I am delighted to participate in the musical preparation and premier performance of a commissioned composition. I believe my fees are very much in line, actually somewhat less, than what many composers are requesting for commissioned work. For a commissioned composition up to approximately 4 minutes in length with keyboard (organ or piano), and possibly one obbligato instrumental part, my fee is $1400.00. For longer works my fee is an additional $300.00 for each additional minute in length. For example, the fee for a 6 minute composition is $2000.00 ($1400 + 600) and for a ten minute composition the fee would be $3200.00 ($1400 + $1800.) For a work of any length with expanded instrumental accompaniment, such as a brass quintet, string quartet, etc., the additional fee can be negotiated.
